“The Chinese Team has made a decision to suspend Liu Shiwen to participate in international competitions”, Kong Linghui
According to Sina Sports, Liu Shiwen is currently suspended from participating in international competitions. The reason cited by Kong Linghui, the head coach of the Chinese Women’s Team, is Liu Shiwen’s last minute withdrawal from the Seamaster 2016 Women’s World Cup held last October.
“Although Liu Shiwen had some injuries at that time, the more important reason was her personal fear of the difficulties”, Kong Linghui added.
It was a last minute withdrawal but it would appear the doubts were present much earlier.
“I was mentally exhausted after the Olympic Games. In addition, there were also a variety of activities. The training was not very systematic. Therefore, I was already hesitant when the team decided for me participate in the World Cup. I was not psychologically prepared”, Liu Shiwen
However, it would appear that Liu Shiwen, who is currently playing in the Chinese Super League, has accepted the decision.
“I will completely obey what the team has decided. There is still the Chinese Super League and I have to adjust as soon as possible to play well. I hope that the team can give me an opportunity again to allow me to compete for a place in the 2020 Olympic Games. I will do my best in world competitions for the glory of China”, Liu Shiwen
