The International Table Tennis Federation’s Umpires and Referees Committee, in conjunction with the Organising Committee, invites national governing bodies to nominate international umpires to officiate at the forthcoming Volkswagen World Junior Table Tennis Championships.
Hyderabad, the capital of the state of Andhra Pradesh and situated in the south of India, is the home for the eight day tournament.
Proceedings in a city, steeped in history, but nowadays very much the focal point for technology will commence on Sunday 9th December and conclude on Sunday 16th December 2012.
A maximum of two nominations per national association is accepted.
All nominations must be endorsed and submitted by a candidate’s national association. Late submissions will not be considered.
Nominations National associations may nominate one International Umpire who has achieved Blue Badge status, or, alternatively, has attended a certified ITTF Advanced Umpire Training course and passed the examination.
Alternatively, one International Umpire (White Badge) who has been active internationally for at least two years but has not yet attended an Advanced Umpire Training course may be nominated. Any nominee in this category should a recently qualified umpire capable of achieving Blue Badge status within two years.
Female Participation Encouraged Furthermore, the nomination of female umpires is encouraged.
Open Invitation It is an open invitation; thus unfortunately many umpires nominated may not be selected.
Selection will be based on geographical boundaries and an approximately an equal division between Blue Badge, Blue Badge in progress and White Badge.
Hospitality Hospitality is afforded by the Table Tennis Federation of India from dinner on Saturday 8th December until breakfast on Monday 17th December 2012.
Nominees, or their associations, are responsible for all related travel and insurance costs to and from Hyderabad.
Meeting Umpires must arrive no later than Saturday 8th December 2012 and attend the Referee Orientation planned for the evening.
Advanced Umpires Training Course In addition an Advanced Umpire Training Course will also be conducted on Saturday 8th December from 8.30am to 6.00pm.
All qualified White Badge Umpires selected for this event are required to attend this course.
Course Fee Participants, or their associations, are responsible for the course fee of US$40.00 plus the additional night’s accommodation required.
Field of Play Evaluations Also, certified Umpires and Referees Committee trainers will conduct field of play evaluations for umpires working at the Championships.
Deadline Dates The closing date for nominations is Friday 31st August 2012; the ITTF Umpires and Referees Committee will confirm selections on or before Sunday 16th September 2012.
An announcement will be made on the website of the International Table Tennis Federation.
