The top three seeded outfits in the Junior Girls’ Team event at the Egypt Junior and Cadet Open in Ismailia all enjoyed success in their opening fixtures on the first day of play, Wednesday 19th June 2013.

Ariel Hsing and Lily Zhang of the United States, the top seeds, were untroubled and was the same for the next two in line. Hong Kong’s Doo Hoi Kem and Lam Yee Lok enjoyed success as did the Chinese Taipei ‘A’ Team of Huang Yu-Wen and Hung Hung

However, for Chinese Taipei ‘B’, the fourth seeds, there was an early defeat. They were beaten by Japan, the no.10 seeds.

Impressive Victory
Mayuka Taira, Yurika Taira and Seira Ushijima combined to overcome Lin Chia-Hsuan, Lee Yu-Peng and Lin Chai-Yu by three matches to nil in their opening encounter; a contest that was arguably closer than the final score-line may suggest.

Two of the three matches went the full five games distance.

Yurika Taira Sets Example
Yurika Taira beat Lin Chia-Hsuan in three straight games (11-8, 11-6, 11-8), before a close contest saw Japan extend the lead thanks to the efforts of Seira Ushijima; she overcame Lee Yu-Peng in a close full distance duel (11-3, 11-5, 7-11, 11-13, 11-5).

Japan, two matches to nil ahead; matters concluded with Mayuka Taira joining forces with Yurika Taira to secure the doubles against Lin Chia-Hsuan and Lin Chia-Yu (10-12, 11-7, 9-11, 11-6, 11-2).

No Charity from Top Seeds
Defeat for the fourth seeds but there were no such troubles for the top three seeded outfits as matters commenced in the Junior Girls’ Team event in Ismailia.

The United States duo of Ariel Hsing and Lily Zhang showed no mercy as they accounted for the Egypt ‘D’ partnership of Yasmine Eltawansy and Nervin Hesham, followed by success in opposition to the combination of Thailand’s Tamolwan Khethuan and India’s Riti Shankar.

Hong Kong Duo in Form
Similarly, there were no great problems for the third and fourth seeded outfits in the Junior Girls’ Team event as they started their quest for honours.

Hong Kong, with Doo Hoi Kem and Lam Yee Lok on duty, emulated the Americans by posting a brace of three-nil wins.

They overcame the Egypt ‘C’ Team, who selected from Bassant Ashraf, Reem Morad and Rana El-Shoubary before recording victory by the same margin in opposition to Singapore’s Tat Hui Li and Yee Herg Hwee.

Confident Start
Meanwhile, not to be overshadowed, Chinese Taipei ‘A’ represented by Huang Yu-Wen and Hung Hung made a confident start.

They recorded three-nil wins against the Nigerian partnership of Iyabo Adebayo and Ajoke Ojomu before recording the same margin of victory when facing Yousry Helmy and Alia Doaa of Egypt ‘A’.
