Canadians Major Challengers for Honours at ITTF-North America Championships

The winner at the GAC Group 2013 ITTF World Tour United States Open, Canadaís Eugene Wang is very much the name to note at the forthcoming ITTF-North American Championships to be staged in Vancouver from Sunday 25th to 27 August 2013.

Listed at no.79 on the Menís World Rankings, 27 years of age, he is very much the player with the experience and with the pedigree.

In addition to his success on the ITTF World Tour, he represented Canada at the London 2012 Olympic Games, competing in the Menís Team event.

Included in Line-Up
Also included in the line-up in Vancouver is Andrť Ho, who was also on duty for Canada at the London Olympic Games; whilst other notable names that appear in the host nationís outfit include Pierre-Luc Theriault and Chen Hongtao.

Pierre-Luc Theriault won the Menís Singles title at the ITTF-North American Championships in 2012, whilst Chen Hongtao was a semi-finalist in the Boysí Singles event at the ITTF Junior Circuit Finals in Guatemala earlier this year in January.

Three Times Champion
Notable names in the Canadian Menís Team; there is one notable in the Womenís outfit; Zhang Mo is a major contender for honours.

In her teenage years, she won no less than five Girlsí Singles titles on the ITTF Junior Circuit, as well as winning the Womenís Singles title at the North American Championships on three consecutive occasions.

She won in Laval in 2009, in Grand Rapids in 2010 and most recently in Mississauga in 2011. Additionally in 2011 she won the Womenís Singles title at the Pan American Championships.

United States Challenge
Meanwhile from across the border, Timothy Wang who was in action in the London 2012 Olympic Games will make the journey to Vancouver, as will two of the rising stars of United States table tennis, Kunal Chodri and Kanak Jha.

However, it is in the female events that the United States has arguably the biggest opportunity for success.

Ariel Hsing and Erica Wu, both London Olympians will be in action.

Venue
Play takes place in the Capilano University.
