Alena Kanova Elected to ITTF Athletes’ Commission |

Slovakia’s Alena Kanova, a lawyer by profession, has been elected as the Para Table Tennis Representative on the ITTF Athletes Commission.
Gold medallist at the Paralympic Games in Sydney in 2000; one of her major goals is to try to ensure that conditions for Paralympics athletes continue to improve. The next Natalia Partyka?
Well, could there be another player who may follow in the footsteps of the Polish star?
Natalia Partyka is now an integral member of her national team and created history in 2008 by becoming the first table tennis player to compete in both the Olympic Games and the Paralympic Games.
At the ITTF Para Table Tennis Championships currently being staged in the Korean city of Gwangju, it would seem there is a player who may well follow in illustrious foo.... |

Mixed Emotions for Claire Mairie as at Last a Major Singles Honour is Secured |

Two silver medals in Women’s Singles events at the Para Table Tennis European Championships but climbing that one step higher in the continental event had always proved elusive for Claire Mairie of France.
Both second places had been secured in Italy; in 2006 in Lido di Jesolo she was the runner up in the Women’s Singles Open Class and in 2009, in Genoa, the runner up in the Class Eight Women’s Singles event.
Gold had come her way in Para European Championships; in 2008 she succeed.... |

Successfully Combining Roles and Taking Heart from National Football Team |

Working in sport in an administrative capacity and also being able to perform most creditably on the international scene is not usual.
Administration is the role for a retired athlete; perhaps a person dedicated to sport for whom international representation was dreamland, or someone fastidious at clerical work but with no past experience in the sport in question.
However, Spain’s Jordi Morales combines both roles successfully..... |

Five Titles for China, Four for Europe and One for the Host Nation |

China emerged as the most successful country in the Men’s Singles Class events at the ITTF Para Table Tennis Championships in the Korean city of Gwangju on Sunday 31st October 2010.
They collected five of the ten titles on offer
In the Wheelchair Classes (Classes one to Five) they secured two titles, whilst in the Standing Classes (Classes Six to Ten), a total of three titles went their way.
Feng Pan Feng secured the Class Three crown with the Class Four title being secured .... |

Clean Sweep for China’s Female Wheelchair Athletes in Gwangju |

China dominated the Wheelchair categories in the Women’s Singles Class events at the ITTF Para Table Tennis Championships in the Korean city of Gwangju on Sunday 31st October 2010.
They won all four titles on offer.
Liu Jing captured the Class One/Two title with Li Qian being the victor in the Class Three event..... |
