Consecutive Titles, Tamolwan Khetkuen Repeats Czech Success in Sweden

Gold in the Czech Republic city of Hodonin on Sunday 19th February 2012, Thailand’s 14 year old Tamolwan Khetkuen repeated the success one week later on Sunday 25th February, in the Swedish city of Örebro.

She won the Cadet Girls’ Singles title at the Swedish Junior and Cadet Open, part of the Safir International Tournament, to add to her growing collection of silverware.

Success for a player who is in her final year in the cadet age group and on the concluding day of proceedings there was success for a player with one more year remaining.....

Jörgen Persson, less than two months away from his 46th birthday, continues to deligfht in the international arenas of the world.

He was on duty recently in both Qatar and Kuwait on the GAC GROUP 2012 ITTF World Tour, the stated reason being to play in as many tournaments as possible in the preparation period for the London Olympic Games.

He keeps flying the flag for Sweden; even though he announced his retirement after the Volkswagen World Championships in Shanghai in 2005 and in 2008 explained that the London Olympic Games were too far ahead to consider participation!

The United States of America is the sleeping giant, the potential in the country for table tennis, whose sporting prowess can be measured by the fact that they continually occupy one of the highest places in the medal table at an Olympics, is immense.

A lifetime has passed since the 1930s when Sol Schiff, Abe Berenbaum, Bob Blattner and Jimmy McClure were winning titles at World Championships.

However, now there is a re-awakening; Lily Zhang and Ariel Hsing both impressed at the ITTF Junior Circuit Finals and ITTF Cadet Challenge held last month in Puerto Rico, as did Kanak Jha.....

Titles for Omar Assar and Doo Hoi Kem in Tournament of Opportunity

Egypt’s Omar Assar and Hong Kong’s Doo Hoi Kem won the respective Men’s and Women’s Singles titles at the Safir International Tournament on Saturday 25th February 2012.

The Under 21 Men’s and Under 21 Women’s Singles events were two of the six competitions to conclude on the penultimate day; the others being Men’s Singles Class One, Women’s Singles Class One, Under 16 Boys’ Singles and Under 16 Girls’ Singles.

One day earlier, the Elite Men’s Singles and Elite Women’s Singles events were contested with China’s Hui Xu and Li Fen emerging the respective winners.....

Incomprehensible and Imperious, Opponents Left Speechless

A third round defeat at the hands of Hong Kong’s Chui Chung Hei in the Junior Boys’ Singles event earlier in the week at the Swedish Junior and Cadet Open, part of the Safir International Tournament, it was much better news for Thailand’s Padasak Tanviriyavechakul on Saturday 25th February 2012.

He was one of the most impressive players on duty, he was the player to attract the attention, the player to catch the eye.

The talented left hander won the Under 16 Boys’ Singles event and he won in an impressive manner; at no stage was he extended the full five games distance.....

A place in the main draw of the Hopes Boys’ Singles event at the Safir International Tournament in Örebro, brought a busy day to an end on Saturday 25th February 2012 for Uruguay’s eleven year old Ari Polakof.

In the Cadet Boys’ Singles competition it was tough going for the South American.

Three matches played, three defeats was the scenario for a young man from as country now making its presence felt internationally.

Fine Start in Sweden as Thai Teenager Seeks to Repeat Czech Success

Winner of the Cadet Girls’ Singles title at the ITTF Junior Circuit tournament in the Czech Republic one week ago, Thailand’s Tamolwan Khetkuen made a fine start in her bid to repeat the success at the Swedish Junior and Cadet Open in Örebro.

A former member of the ITTF World Hopes Team and in action in Puerto Rico earlier this year in January at the ITTF Cadet Challenge, the 14 year old experienced few problems in her initial group stage matches on Saturday 25th February 2012.

She posted straight games wins in impressive style in her group stage matches.....
