A quarter-finalist two years earlier when the tournament was held in Pohang, Chinese Taipei’s Lee Chia-Sheng staved off the might of the host nation, to win the Junior Boys’ Singles title at the Korean Junior and Cadet Open in Daejeon on Saturday 1st September 2012.
Occupying the no.2 seeded position in the draw, the fast attacking skills of the 17 year old proved too fearsome for his Korean adversaries.

Beaten by Japan’s Ayane Morita in three straight games in the first stage of proceedings; the future look bleak for the host nation’s Kim Byeolnim. Thoughts of a place in the final were distant dreams.

Five of the top eight seeds booked their places in the quarter-finals of the Junior Girls’ Singles event at the Korea Junior and Cadet Open in Daejeon, following success in the early rounds of proceedings on Friday 31st August 2012.
The name of the host nation’s Lee Zion, the no.5 seed, was missing but there were two even more notable omissions.
There was no place on the list for the top two seeds, Japan’s Yui Hamamoto and Lee Zion’s colleague, Lee Dasom.

Players from the host nation dominated proceedings on the penultimate day of play, Friday 31st August 2012, at the Korean Junior and Cadet Open in the city of Daejeon.
Six of the players to reach the quarter-final stage of the Junior Boys’ Singles event are from Korea.
They provided seven of the eight Cadet Boys’ Singles quarter-finalists; whilst in the Junior Boys’ Doubles final, they are represented by the partnership of Jang Woojin and Park Chan Hyeok.
