World Hopes Team Graduates, Hung Ka Tak and Tamolwan Khetkuan Win in Noumea

Bronze medallists in the respective Boys’ and Girls’ Singles events at the ITTF Cadet Challenge in the Mangilao, the capital city of the Pacific island of Guam in November 2012, Hong Kong’s Hung Ka Tak and Thailand’s Tamolwan Khetkhuan stood proudly on the stop step of the medal podium, when matters concluded at the ITTF Junior Circuit tournament in New Caledonia in Noumea on Sunday 18th August 2013,

At the Jemati New Caledonia Junior and Cadet Open, Hung Ka Tak won the Junior Boys’ Singles title; Tamolwan Khetkhuan claimed the counterpart Junior Girls’ Singles crown.....

Green and Gold Celebrates, Cadet Titles for Australia in New Caledonia

Australia had cause to celebrate in Noumea on Sunday 18th August 2013; it was double gold for the green and gold.

Shen Yang and Wendy Li won the respective Cadet Boys’ and Cadet Girls’ Singles titles at the Jemati New Caledonia Junior and Cadet Open.

Both players impressed as they reserved the top step of the medal podium with Wendy Li being very much the surprise package of the day.

Leading Names Progress but Surprises in Store for Frenchman and American

Chinese Taipei’s Liao Cheng-Ting and Hong Kong’s Hung Ka Tak, the respective top two seeds in the Junior Boys’ Singles event at the Jemati New Caledonia Junior and Cadet Open in Noumea, duly progressed to the quarter-final stage, following success on Saturday 17th August.

Similarly, Yang Heng-Wei, the third seed and also from Chinese Taipei advanced without trouble, as did Thailand’s Padasak Tanviriyavechakul, the fourth seed and Romain Ruiz of France the fifth seed.

No great problems for the top five names and it was the same for Korea’s Oh Wootaek, the eighth seed; he duly booked his place in the quarter-finals without enduring any great moments of drama.....

Quarter-Final Places Booked in Style, Top Seeds Untroubled in New Caledonia

Five groups in the first stage of proceedings in the Junior Girls’ Singles event at the Jemati New Caledonia Junior and Cadet Open, the top five seeded players all enjoyed a successful day

All booked their places in the quarter-final stage without too many alarms.

The only member of the quintet to experience any great difficulties was Korea’s Yoon Hyobin; she needed the full five games to beat Chinese Taipei’s Lee Yu-Peng (11-3, 6-11, 3-11, 11-5, 11-9).

Otherwise for the remaining highly rated players the passage to the round of the last was relatively comfortable.....

Success for Top Seeds but Testing Times En Route to Gold for Eventual Champions

Represented by Liao Cheng-Ting and Yang Heng-Wei, Chinese Taipei justified their top seeded position in the draw, to win the Junior Boys’ Team event at the Jemati 2013 New Caledonia Open on Friday 16th August.

At the final hurdle they accounted for the combination formed by Hong Kong’s Hung Ka Tak and Thailand’s Padasak Tanviriyavechakul.

Success for Chinese Taipei in the Junior Boys’ Team event, in the counterpart Junior Girls’ Team competition it was first place for the partnership of Canada’s Anqi Luo and Thailand’s Tamolwan Khetkhuan. ....

Singapore and France Secured Cadet Team Titles in New Caledonia

Gold and silver, Singapore dominated matters in the Cadet Boys’ Team event at the Jemati 2013 New Caledonia Open in Noumea on Friday 16th August.

Singapore ‘B’ represented by Ethan Poh Shao Feng and Lucas Tan captured the Cadet Boys’ Team title at the final expense of their colleagues, Darren Loy Meng Hean and Tay Ming Han Maxxe, representing Singapore ‘B’.

Meanwhile, in the counterpart Cadet Girls’ Team competition it was success for France. Maeva Causse and Malaurie Mathieu struck gold; at the final hurdle they overcame the United States combination of Angela Guam and Lucy Ma.....

Koreans Cause First Stage Upset, Oh Wootaek in Form in New Caledonia

The sixth seeds, the Korean outfit formed by Oh Wootaek and Lee Jimyeong, caused the one upset of note on the opening day of play, Thursday 15th August, at the Jemati 2013 New Caledonia Open in Noumea.

They recorded a three-two win over the fourth seeded United States duo comprising Kunal Chodri and Krishnateja Avvari, with Oh Wootaek being the star player.

He remained unbeaten as he guided Korea to top place in the group; the consolation for the United States was that they finished in second position and thus progressed to the main draw.....
