A three matches to nil semi-final success for Ecuador was recorded against the Costa Rica ‘A’ Team partnership of Nicole Granados and Fiorella Valleillo; a three-one victory margin was posted one fixture later in the final in opposition to Dayana Jaramillo, Janina Nieto and Adriana Galdamez.
Eunice Galvez
Mainstay of the success was Eunice Galvez who beat both Adriana Galdamez (11-3, 11-2, 11-2) and Dayana Jaramillo (11-5, 11-4, 6-11, 11-6), whilst partnering Emily Quinllin to doubles success against Dayana Jaramillo and Janina Nieto (11-8, 11-4, 11-6).
The one success for the defeated was recorded in the second match of the fixture when the all Ecuadorian clash witnessed success for Dayana Jaramillo in opposition to Emely Quinllin (15-13, 14-12, 11-9).
Strange selection
Somewhat strangely in the final, Janina Nieto, the highest rated female player in the whole tournament had not played in the singles matches.
Earlier at the semi-final stage in harness with Dayana Jaramillo she had been the backbone of success in opposition to El Salvador ‘A’. She beat both Cecilia Orantes (11-7, 11-7, 11-6) and Emme Arias (11-6, 11-8, 7-11, 11-1) in a three-two victory.
The one remaining success was recorded by Dayana Jaramillo in the concluding match of the fixture. In a hard fought five games encounter, she overcame Cecilia Orantes (9-11, 13-15, 11-7, 14-12, 11-7).
Full distance contest
Meanwhile, the wins for El Salvador ‘A’ had been achieved by Emme Arias in the second match of the fixture against Dayana Jaramillo (11-5, 11-8, 11-4) and in the doubles when Emme Arias and Ceilia Orantes beat Dayana Jaramillo and Janina Nieto (11-7, 11-9, 9-11, 9-11, 11-7).
Proceedings continue with the individual events, play concludes on Sunday 28th August.
