German duo stakes claim for place in finals

Success in Hammamet, Germany’s Tobias Hippler and Caroline Hajok, both climb the ITTF World Junior Circuit Standings, following the close of proceedings at the Sopal 2016 Tunisia Junior and Cadet Open in Sunday 4th September.

Tobias Hippler moves from no.24 on the Boys’ Standings to no.6 (2,426 points); on the counterpart Girls’ Standings, Caroline Hajok advances from no.38 to no.10 (2,130 points).

The outcome is that both have given themselves more than a realistic chance to be amongst the players who will be invited to compete in the 2016 ITTF World Junior Circuit Grand Finals to be staged in the Indian city of Indore in January 2017.

Major progress

Likewise, on the Boys’ Standings, there is notable progress for Bahrain’s Rashed Sanad; beaten by Tobias Hippler in the Tunisian final, he climbs from no.33 to no.11 (1,907 points).

Progress for Rashed Sanad, it is the same for India’s Diya Parag Chitale in the Girls’ Standings; the runner up in Hammamet, she moves from no.37 to no.13 (1,815 points).

Top places remain the same

Notable movement but at the very top of the listings, there is no change; the top places remain the same.

Japan’s Yukiya Uda heads the Boys’ Standings (3,849 points), followed once again by Slovenia’s Darko Jorgic (3,540 points), Chinese Taipei’s Huang Chien-Tu (3,024 points) and Qatar’s Mohammed Abdelwahhab (2,768 points). Notably in Tunisia, Mohammed Abdulwahhab reached the semi-final stage of the Junior Boys’ Singles competition.

Miyu Kato again in top spot

Meanwhile, on the Girls’ Standings, Japan’s Miyu Kato (4,616 points) remains in first place ahead of colleague KanaTakeuchi (4,258 points).

Next in line is Hong Kong’s Mak Tze Wing (3,374 points) with Miyu Nagasaki, also from Japan (3,076 points), alongside China’s Qian Tianyi (2,806 points) and Puerto Rico’s Adriana Diaz (2,750 points) completing the elite names.

The finals

A total of 16 boys and 16 girls on the respective Standings qualify for the Finals in Indore; the invitations being administered following conclusion of the Hungarian Junior and Cadet on Sunday 6th November.

In each event, each continent is eligible for one representative as is the host nation; no nation may be represented by more than two boys and two girls.
