The Women’s Chinese Super League has witnessed two strong teams in this season’s competition. They are the Bayi and Shandong Qilu Team; since day one of the proceedings, these teams have maintained a flawless performance, posting five consecutive victories.
Such result ended in the latest round of the competition which took place on Sunday 30th October.
With Mu Zi and Hu Limei on their side, Bayi stayed strong in the competition but in the fifth round, it was only Mu Zi who delivered the goods. Hu Limei lost the opening match and they also lost the Doubles.
In the deciding match, their player Sun Mingyang felt the pressure as the cheers of the crowd were for her opponent Wang Manyu. In three games, Bayi lost the round.
The other strong team this season is the Shandong Qilu. Despite playing in their home court, Qilu was defeated by Shandong Luneng in four matches. Qilu’s Wu Yang scored the second match to their favour. However in the fourth match, she was defeated by Zhu Yuling; their close encounter ended with a five games win (11-7, 8-11, 6-11, 11-9, 7-5) in favour of the guest.
Shandong Qilu recorded their first loss this season.
The fifth round of the competition made way for a battle between the Grand Slam champion Ding Ning (Beijing) and the reigning Women’s World Cup champion Miu Hirano (Ordos).
Ding Ning sealed the point for Beijing in straight games (11-1, 11-7, 15-13).
Despite the opening loss from Doo Hoi Kem, Beijing was able to seal a victory in the end. The team defeated Ordos in three-one.
The other winning team in the round is the Anxin Team which is led by Liu Shiwen. In their battle against the host team Shenzhen, Liu Shiwen managed to deliver expected results. However, the process was tough.
