“Looking at the level of strength, I have the upper hand. I know that I had the ability to win after losing the first two games.” Liu Shiwen said.
The team leader of the Anxin Team, Liu Shiwen, had a challenging match against Chen Xingtong of Shandong Qilu in the sixth round of the Women’s Division of the 2016 Chinese Super League.
Although Anxin played on their home ground, Liu Shiwen lost the first two games. However, as an Olympic Team champion, Liu Shiwen knew that she still can turn the tide to her favour.
Indeed, she snatched the third game and started an impressive recovery. She survived the full-stretch match (6-11, 5-11, 11-8, 11-8, 7-4). Liu Shiwen added that she just stayed calm and eventually caught up point after point.
As of now, Liu Shiwen is in the top spot of the individual ranking with nine wins and two losses.
Liu Shiwen was not the only player from the Anxin Team who contributed the necessary points in the latest round. Feng Yalan also played an important role.
She won the opening match against Wen Jia in straight games and survived the doubles with Liu Gaoyang (11-7, 10-12, 8-6). After their victory, Feng Yalan stated that playing in their home court gave her immeasurable confidence.
“I am full of morale playing in our home court. No matter who I meet, I will always especially have the confidence.” Feng Yalan.
Feng Yalan is currently standing in the ninth spot in the individual ranking with four wins and one loss.
With outstanding performance of their players, the Anxin Team benefits of course. They enjoy the top spot in the team ranking with five wins and one loss. They are tied with Bayi Team.
Liu Shiwen has already stated that their goal this season is to win the championship title; as of now, they are definitely on the right track.
