This season’s Chinese Super League commenced with a surprising upset from Liu Jikang. The 24-year old player, representing the Shenzhen Team, stunned the Rio Olympic Singles champion Ma Long in four games (I15-13, 11-9, 5-11, 11-5).
After the match, Liu Jikang cannot believe what he achieved but he was definitely happy about his performance.
Liu Jikang is just one of the players who have made an impact in the 2016 Chinese Super League.
Equally, Liang Jingkun is definitely one player who has impressed. The 20-year old represents Bazhou Team this season. He is currently ranked fourth in the individual ranking with eleven wins and four losses; his contribution to the team has been very significant; they have defeated two strong teams already, Shanghai and Shandong Luneng.
In the fifth round, Liang Jingkun upset the Shanghai Team’s main player Xu Xin in a full-stretched duel (17-15, 11-9, 6-11, 10-12, 7-1). He recorded two wins in that battle.
One round lateer, he defeated Zhang Chao and Fang Bo of the Shandong Luneng. Liang Jingkun beat the runner-up at the Qoros 2015 World Championships, Fang Bo (16-14, 11-3, 11-8).
At the moment, Bazhou is enjoying the third spot in the team ranking with six wins and three losses.
Let’s wait to see what can Liang Jingkun does in the international circuit in the future World Tour competitions.
Of course, Fan Zhendong tops the list of impressive players this season. Since the start of the competition, the 19-year old player from the Bayi Team has been undefeated. He has defeated the likes of Ma Long and Xu Xin, among others.
Ma Long follows in the second place with 12 wins and two losses. Xu Xin is in third recording fourteen wins and three defeats.
The Chinese Super League is scheduled to resume its preliminary stage this Saturday 19th November, with the tenth round.
