A statement was released by Motswagole Kudzanani, Executive Committee member of the Botswana Table Tennis Association and Competition Secretary.
“It is with great sadness that we have learned of the passing of a great icon of our sport Mrs Matshidiso Moses. She has been serving the association as an Assistant Junior National Team Coach and as Secretary General for her beloved club Smash Maniacs.
As a player, Matshidiso had longevity and played at the highest level, winning countless medals and accolades. She was a constant member of our national team and represented the country at international competitions and proudly wore the Botswana colours for many years. Indeed she earned her stripes.
She will surely be missed by her many friends in the table tennis community and Botswana sport at large.
Our sincere condolences to her family and friends, as we remind all that, “the Lord is close to the broken hearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit” (Psalms 34: 18). May your soul rest in peace true champ.”
Messages of condolence have been received from throughout the continent including, the Botswana Sports Commission, Namibia Table Tennis Association, the Zimbabwe Table Tennis Association as well as from Lesego Master Maifala, the President of the Botswana Table Tennis Association in addition to local players and officials.
