Therefore, the ITTF Umpires and Referee Committee will organise two International Referee Conferences in 2017.
In conjunction with the Chinese Table Tennis Association a conference will be held in Beijing from Friday 6th to Sunday 8th October; whilst in liaison with the Cyprus Table Tennis Association, from Friday 3rd to Sunday 5th November, Larnaca will be the destination.
All International Referees are advised to attend at least one of the two conferences to maintain their status.
The aims of both conferences are to:
………. strengthen knowledge and skills, raise standards and competence
………. review the referee’s role, co-operation with other tournament officials
………. improve communication and presentation skills
………. strengthen skills regarding draw and scheduling
………. discuss on the consistency of refereeing decisions
Topics under discussion will include: communication, conflict management, consistency of rules interpretation, new coaching regulation, draw and schedule, referee’s report, electronic database format, Para table tennis, referee career development.
All invited umpires must organize their own transport to the region as well as travel and medical insurance.
In addition, all invited umpires are responsible for early arrival and late departure.
The Conference fee in each instance is €60.00; hospitality packages covering all meals are available for two nights. In Larnaca the cost for a shared room is €280.00, for a single €315.00; in Beijing it is US$ 300 for shared occupancy and US$ 380 for single occupancy.
