Ding Ning was crowned the Women's Singles World Champion on 4th June 2017, thus bringing an end to the Women's singles competition. Check out the tournament for the ladies in numbers.

In seven days of competition, a total of 292 matches, 1420 games and a whooping 25085 points were played.

The longest match of the tournament was the Women’s Singles Round of 64 where Ri Hyon Sim (PRK) beat Polina Mikhailova (RUS) in seven games. The score was: (12-10, 12-10, 12-14, 10-12, 11-13, 11-9, 11-7). A total of 154 points were played in the match!

The shortest match played was the Women’s Singles Qualification match in Group One between Orawan Paranang (THA) and Shouq Abdulla (QAT). Paranang beat Abdulla in four games. The score:  (11-2, 11-3, 11-2, 11-1 ) totaling to 52 points.

Out of all the matches played, 60 matches were upsets (a lower ranked player beat a higher ranked one). This makes it a 20.5% of all matches.

The most common game score was 11-7, slightly shorter than men’s most common 11-8.

The most debatable score, 11-0 was also achieved in the tournament. There were two 11-0 scores in Women’s Singles, both in qualification group stage.

The longest single game, with a score of 29-27, came from Women’s Singles round of 128 match between Britt Eerland (NED) and Dorina Srebrnjak (CRO). Srebrnjak won the game, but Eerland won the match!

11.6% of games went to deuce, 12-10 or high.

The numbers are mind boggling, imagine what an experience it would have been to play at the Liebherr 2017 World Championships in Düsseldorf, Germany from 29th May – 5th June 2017.
