He not only won the title, but won in the narrowest of the margins. It felt that the match had slipped from his hands, but Dimitrij Ovtcharov is made of steel. Trailing 6-10 in the deciding game, Dimitrij Ovtcharov fought back like a hungry beast. He defeated his teammate, good friend and the current World no.8 Timo Boll in a roller coaster thriller match (17-15, 7-11, 12-10, 11-9, 7-11, 6-11, 12-10).

After his win, he posted on Facebook:

That’s probably the wildest Final I have ever played! After being up 3-1 in sets it came down to 3-3 and 6-10?…..10-10..12-10!? It’s taken a lot of hard work to get to this but that’s not the only reason why I’m here, it’s also a lot because of my team that I have around me.
