Earlier, at the semi-final stage, Vitor Ishiy and Bruna Takahashi had beaten Argentina’s Gaston Alto and Ana Codina, the no.7 seeds (11-5, 7-11, 11-4, 11-4); Eric Jouti and Gui Lin, has accounted for Canada’s Marko Medjugorac and Zhang Mo, the no.3 seeds (12-10, 14-12, 8-11, 11-7);
Meanwhile in both the Men’s Doubles and Women’s Doubles events, matters have advanced to the quarter-final round with more medals being in the sights of Brazil.
In the Women’s Doubles event Gui Lin and Bruna Takahashi, the top seeds, booked their place in the last eight by beating Chile’s Daniela Ortega and Valentina Rios (11-7, 11-6, 11-5), as did Puerto Rico’s Adriana Diaz and Melanie Diaz, the no.2 seeds, they accounted for Argentina’s Agustina Iwasa and Candela Molero (11-8, 11-9, 13-11).
Similarly, Crystal Wang and Wu Yue of the United States, the no.3 seeds, accounted for Ecuador’s Eunice Galvez and Astrid Salazar (11-8, 11-4, 9-11, 11-5); Canada’s Alicia Cote and Zhang Mo, the no.4 seeds, defeated Colombia’s Manuela Echeverry and Juliana Rodriguez (11-5, 11-8, 11-2)>
Imposing performances to book last eight Women’s Doubles places, it was the same in the Men’s Doubles event.
Vitor Ishiy and Eric Jouti, the top seeds, beat the host nation’s Amilo Alzak and Mauricio Rivera (12-14, 11-7, 17-15, 12-10) Cuba’s Jorge Campos and Andy Pereira defeated Paraguay’s Benico Moreno and Alejandro Toranzos (11-8, 11-5, 11-7).
Minimal problems, it was the same for Argentina’s Gaston Alto and Horacio Cifuentes, the no.3 seeds; they overcame Aldar Alguetti and Sharin Alguetti of the United States (12-14, 11-7, 17-15, 12-10), whilst equally imposing Chile’s Gustavo Gomez and Juan Lamadrid, the no.4 seeds, also ended the hopes of the United States. They ended the aspirations of Kunal Chodru and Nicholas Tito (11-5, 11-9, 11-8).
Both Men’s Doubles and Women’s Doubles events will be played to a conclusion on Sunday17th September.
