Japanese table tennis superstar Ai Fukuhara gave birth to a baby girl on Friday 13th October.
Husband, Chiang Hung-Chieh released a statement saying that both mother and daughter were in good health, with no complications during the birth.
Fukuhara took to her blog that day to share the moment with her fans.
“I honestly still can’t believe that I’m now a mother.” Ai Fukuhara.
There is yet to be an announcement of the baby’s name.
Ai Fukuhara married Chinese Taipei table tennis player Chiang Hung-Chieh in September last year, and the pair announced the pregnancy in June.
It has been more than a year since table tennis fans have seen Fukuhara compete. The 28 year old said her intention was to return to competition after having a child.
The last time Fukuhara took to the table tennis arena was at the Rio Olympic Games, where she won bronze as part of the Japanese women’s team.
