Europe and North America won’t be going home empty handed after they both won their respective bronze medal playoffs.

Team Europe secured a place on the podium in the Girls’ Team Event today as they bested Latin America for bronze.

Jamila Laurenti was the team’s anchor, only dropping one match along the way to the medal. The Italian, who is competing in her final year in cadets, seems to be taking the lead on the court and with the right draw she may go deep in the singles.

And so with a medal secured how are they going to celebrate?

“Play Uno,” they say before throwing in with a rye smile, “and maybe even drink some cold water or even tea for even more fun!”

In the boys’ event North America won 3-1 against their Latin American neighbours.

North America took an early lead, but Diogo Silva kept Latin American hopes alive when he took the third match. But Michael Tran made swift work to halt the comeback and won 3-0 to secure the game.

And how are the boys celebrating? Well the North Americans were clapping along to Pharrel Williams’ ‘Happy’ as it blared in the stadium while watching their girls’ team fight for gold. They definitely seemed happy.
