In the Cadet Boys’ Team event, France ‘A’ represented by Ethan Claude and Hugo Deschamps accounted for the Portugal ‘B’ duo comprising Thomas Fereira and João Silva by three matches to nil.
Similarly, Louis Laine Campino and Martin Blot, on duty for France ‘B’, displayed good form; they recorded a three-one success in opposition to Iran’s Mohammad Amin Samadi and Mohammad Mosaic Taher.
Disappointment for the host nation but there was success. David Bessa and Ricardo Correia in action for Portugal ‘A’ overcame the combination of Singapore’s Quek Yong Isaac and Egypt’s Omar Allam by three matches to nil to book a semi-final meeting against Louis Laine Campino and Martin Blot.
Meanwhile, in the opposite half of the draw, Ethan Claude and Hugo Deschamps confront the Czech Republic’s Jan Mokrejs and Simon Belik; at the quarter-final stage they posted a three-one win in opposition to the Romania ‘B’ combination of Emmanuel Cocinschi and Emir Culpedin.
Success for the French boys, for their female counterparts at the quarter-final stage of the Cadet Girls’ Team event, it was defeat.
Lucie Mobarek and Agathe Glemba, representing France ‘A’, suffered a three-nil defeat at the hands of Singapore’s Zhou Jingyi and Ser Lin Qian; somewhat similarly for Lucy Farcy and Charlotte Lutz, it was a three-one reverse when facing the Netherlands partnership of Emine Ernst and Emma Van der Zanden.
At the semi-final stage Zhou Jingyi and Ser Lin Qian meet Romania’s Luciana Mitrofan and Elena Zaharia; Emine Ernst and Emma Van der Zanden confront Iran’s Shima Safaei and Parinaz Hajilou. Both Romania and Iran gained a direct entry from the group stage to the semi-finals.
Play concludes in Guimarães on Saturday 25th November.
