A busy schedule in Riva del Garda, the eight days of play in the 2017 ITTF World Junior Championships concluding on Sunday 3rd December; it was time to return home. However, it was not the situation for one very promising group of young players.

Thailand’s Jinnipa Sawettabut and Yanapong Panagitgun alongside India’s Archana Girish Kamath, Romania’s Andreea Dragoman and Brazil’s Bruna Takahashi, a journey from one venue to another.

Organised by ITTF Education and Training in cooperation with the German Table Tennis Association, they joined Guilherme Teodoro, also from Brazil, for a four day training camp from Tuesday 5th to Friday 8th December at the German National Team Training Centre in Düsseldorf.

All members of the “ITTF with the Future in Mind” initiative, they worked under the direction of Tamara Boros and Dejan Papic, ITTF Education and Training Co-ordinator with Thailand’s Kraiwan Suphaprasert being present to give valuable support.

“The aim of the camp is to provide evaluation of the overall technical skills and playing style. Tamara gave feedback to each player. On the last day they had opportunity to work one-on-one with Tamara. Excellent conditions and high level practice partners were present.” Dejan Papic

Notably, once proceedings in Düsseldorf had concluded, Jinnipa Sawettabut, Archana Girish Kamath and Bruna Takahashi alongside Kraiwan Suphaprasert moved to Luxembourg where they stayed until Friday 15th December where they were guided by Chinese coaches led by Zhang Yining, the former Olypic Games gold medallist and World champion.

“I am very pleased with opportunity to learn from top former world players Tamara Boros and Zhang Yining. We have recorded a lot of footage and made a lot of notes; there is quite a lot to do in Thailand!” Kraiwan Suphaprasert

Hard work ahead but all wiser for the experience.
