An undergraduate at the America University of Cairo, having been part of the team at the 2015 edition of the tournament in Dubai, Yousra Helmy believes this year’s outfit is primed to make an impact.
“Competing at the World Team Cup again is a very good opportunity for me, being my second appearance in the tournament. In my maiden outing with the team, we did not have it easy as we were drawn in the same group as Hong Kong and Korea. However, this time around, with our ranking, I am sure we can be ranked second in our group and hopefully, we have the chance to progress to the next round; it is our first target.
Being chosen to represent my country is very big. It is indeed a big honour because not many people have this kind of privilege. I hope that this time around, we can win a match and qualify to the second round. I am hopeful that we can do something good this year.
The feat achieved by our men’s team in 2013 was something big particularly winning a medal. I hope this can also inspire us to do something like them.”
