Graciously, Rashid Mohammed Echesa, recently appointed to office on Tuesday 20th February, thanked the International Table Tennis Federation for affording Kenya the opportunity to stage such a notable event.
He stressed that it was yet another way to show the world that Kenya is a sport loving nation.
“We are grateful to the leadership of the ITTF for choosing us as the host. We will continue to seek this kind of opportunity to showcase our country and project the abundant talents that abound in our nation. Kenya is proud to be hosting this year’s ITTF Continental Cup Africa at the Kasarani Stadium Indoor Arena; twill be the first time Kenya hosts a major table tennis tournament after 29 years. We are proud as a county to be given this opportunity, fans are ecstatic to finally get a chance to see an international table tennis tournament.” Rashid Mohammed Echesa
Meanwhile, in response Andrew Mudibo, President of the Kenya Table Tennis Association stressed the importance of the support and technical backing he had received in his efforts to stage the event.
“I remain grateful to the Kenyan government for their support and I hope we can build on this to raise the profile of the sport and also unearth more talents for the country.” Andrew Mudibo.
