Represented by Mabelyn Enriquez, Andrea Estrada and Andrea Montufar; Guatemala, the top seeds, finished in third place in their initial stage group.
Venezuela who selected from Gremlis Arvelo, Neridee Niño, Camila Obando and Carmen Rivas topped the group; the Guyana trio of Jodyann Blake, Natalie Cummings and Trenace Lowe secured second place.
Fifth place was to be the eventual lot for the Guatemalan outfit. In the play-off fixtures for the lower places, a three-nil win was recorded against the Barbados team comprising Kenady King, Janae Lewis and Danielle Walton; before the same margin of victory was posted in opposition to Trinidad and Tobago’s Aleena Edwards, Brittany Joseph and Catherine Spicer.
Similarly, there were problems for El Salvador, the no.2 seeds. Selecting from Emme Arias, Monica Mendoza, Estefania Ramirios and Wang de Ying, second place in the initial stage group was the end result. Mexico who chose from Marbella Aceves, Alejandrina Mendez, Monica Muñoz and Yadira Silva duly remained unbeaten to top the group.
However, runners up spot meant a semi-final place but there was to be no further progress; a three-nil defeat was experienced when confronting Venezuela who fielded the trio of Gremlis Arvelo, Neridee Niño and Carmen Rivas.
An impressive performance by Venezuela, in the opposite half of the draw it was the same from Mexico. Selecting Marbella Aceves, Monica Muñoz and Yadira Silva, a three-nil win was the verdict in opposition to Guyana who once again selected Jodyann Blake, Natalie Cummings and Trenace Lowe.
There is no bronze medal play-off fixture: the final is scheduled for 2.00pm (local time) on Friday 2nd March; the top eight teams qualify for the 2018 Central American and Caribbean Games to be staged in July and early August in Barranquilla, Colombia.
