Vitor Ishiy gave Brazil the ideal start in the Men’s Team final by beating Juan Lamadrid (11-3, 12-10, 11-9), he was followed by Eric Jouti who accounted for Felipe Olivares (12-10, 11-3, 11-4). A two matches to nil advantage, Juan Lamadrid returned to the table to partner Gustavo Gomez in the doubles; the duo stemmed the tide by overcoming Vitor Ishiy and Thiago Monteiro (16-14, 3-11, 5-11, 11-7, 11-9).
However, it was only to be a brief respite, the Brazilian trio was not to be denied. In a contest as closely fought as the doubles, Eric Jouti overcame a determined Gustavo Gomez in five games to seal the victory (11-8, 9-11, 11-5, 9-11, 11-8).
A three matches to one success for the Brazilian men, it was even more emphatic from their female counterparts; a three-nil victory margin was the order of the day.
Gui Lin beat Camila Arguelles (11-3, 11-8, 11-5) to set Brazil on the road to victory, before Bruna Takahashi resisted a spirited comeback by Ana Codina to double the lead (11-5, 11-5, 10-12, 10-12, 11-4).
Brazil in control, Argentine hopes hanging by a thread, Gui Lin partnered Jessica Yamada to doubles success, the pair never in serious danger against Camila Arguelles and Candela Molero (11-5, 11-8, 11-5).
Success for Brazil and no doubt there is more to follow, attention now turns to the individual events, play concludes on Friday 9th March.
