A first senior international tournament, Pang Yen En Koen is looking forward to rubbing shoulders with the best players from the Commonwealth nations.

“This is my first senior international tournament and I am really looking forward to it, because I know we have quality players that will compete in the tournament. There is no doubt that the players from England, India and Nigeria are very strong and I believe we can match them and win medals.” Pang Yew En Koen

Furthermore, being a multi-sport event, all are part of a greater team; a scenario which makes such competitions special.

“I love attending tournaments with several sports and this is one such competitions, like the Olympic Games. Going to Australia will be an experience I will want to cherish for a very long time. Apart from competing in table tennis, it provides athletes the rare opportunity to make friends with other athletes from other sports. I am so excited heading to the Games and I am hopeful that I will return with medal in the doubles event.” Pang Yew En Koen

In Gold Coast, Singapore will be led by the vastly experienced, 35 year old, Gao Ning.

“He is a highly respected member of the team and playing alongside him in the team will afford me the opportunity to learn from him and I am eager to learn from the top players in Gold Coast.” Pang Yew En Koen

Notably Gao Ning won Men’s Singles titles on the ITTF World Tour in 2007 in New Delhi and in 2012 in Santiago; it is in those shoes Pang Yew En Koren treads.
