At the final hurdle she beat Prithika Pavade of France, the no.8 seed (11-6, 12-10, 11-6, 11-13, 11-9), having earlier in the day accounted for Amy Wang of the United States, the top seed (6-11, 11-5, 11-13, 7-11, 11-4, 11-8, 11-8). The win reserved a place in the quarter-finals where the good form continued.
She overcame Italy’s Jamila Laurenti, the no.5 seed (15-13, 11-6, 7-11, 12-10, 10-12, 11-1) prior to recording a semi-final success in opposition to colleague, Hu Yueyan, who likewise was making her first ITTF World Junior Circuit appearance. Zuo Yue emerged successful in five games (7-11, 11-5, 11-8, 11-9, 12-10).
Notably, one round earlier Hu Yueyan had ended the progress of Lucie Gauthier of France, the no.3 seed (9-11, 11-3, 9-11, 11-9, 11-5, 14-12).
In the opposite half of the draw in the latter stages Prithika Pavade had beaten Turkey’s Ozge Yilmaz (9-11, 11-5, 11-8, 11-6, 11-6), followed by success in opposition to the Czech Republic’s Zdena Blaskova, the no.2 seed (11-5, 11-8, 13-15, 11-9, 12-10) and Russia’s Arina Slautina (11-2, 13-11, 11-13, 4-11, 11-8, 14-12), a player in form. Earlier in the day in the second round, Arina Slautina had accounted for Germany’s Franziska Schreiner, the no.4 seed (7-11, 5-11, 11-4, 6-11, 11-8, 11-7, 11-9).
Disappointment for Zdena Blaskova and Jamila Laurenti; in the Junior Girls’ Doubles event it was success. They combined to secure the top prize, at the final hurdle overcoming Lucie Gauthier and compatriot, Berenice Marteau (11-6, 11-9, 11-7).
The Junior Girls’ Singles event completed, attention now turns to the Junior Girls’ Team and Cadet Girls’ Team competitions.
