The defeat experienced by Andela Muzinic and Helena Dretar was one of three noteworthy upsets in the first stage of the Women’s Team events.
In Class 6-7, an event in which the top seeded duo of Turkey’s Kubra Korkut and Kelly van Zon of the Netherlands remained unbeaten, the combination of Ukraine’s Maryna Lytovchenko and Romania’s Gabriela Constantin, the no.2 seeds, experienced a two matches to one defeat at the hands of Russia’s Ulija Shishkina and Maliak Alieva.
Likewise in Class 11, the top seeds, the combination of Ukraine’s Natalya Kosmina and Japan’s Kanami Furukawa remained unbeaten but there was defeat for the no.3 seeds. Japan’s Sayuri Mio and Maki Ito lost to Ng Mui Wui, Wong Pui Kei and Li Hiu Tang.
Success for the top seeds in Class 6-7 and Class 11; it was the same in Class 4-5, Class 8 and in Class 9-10.
In Class 4-5 the partnership formed by Serbia’s Borislava Peric-Rankovic, Nada Matic and Kristina Arancic remained unbeaten as in Class 8 did the pairing of Russia’s Victoriya Safonova and Elena Litvinenko. Meanwhile, not to be upstaged; in Class 9-10 the Brazilian trio of Bruna Alexandre, Danielle Rauen and Jennyfer Parinos enjoyed a successful day.
