New Zealand’s Nathan Xu and Jiayi Zhou have come away with the Under 15 Singles titles at the 2018 ITTF-Oceania Junior Championships in Rarotonga, Cook Islands.
In the Boys’ Singles final, Xu defeated Australia’s Finn Luu 3-0 (11,14,5) to complete a perfect day of table tennis.
Xu completely dominated the field in Rarontonga. The Kiwi finished the event without dropping a game, keeping a 3-0 clean sheet on his journey to the top of the podium.
Meanwhile, in the Girls’ Singles final it Jiayi Zhou defeated Australia’s Danni-Elle Townsend 3-1 (-7,12,7,9) to send both cadet titles back to New Zealand. Zhou, the only defender in the field, withstood an onslaught of attacks, but kept her cool to as she survived the barrage to claim the gold medal.
