Likewise, Kohei Sambe, the no.14 seed, also upset the order of merit by emerging successful in the all Japanese duel. He prevailed against Koyo Kanamitsu (7-11, 4-11, 11-9, 11-7, 11-9).

Wins contrary to status, conversely as expected, Yuta Tanaka, the no.8 seed, overcame Manav Thakkar, the no.10 seed and like Ronit Bhanja from India (5-11, 11-6, 11-3, 11-7); Yuto Kizukuri, the top seed, beat Belgium’s Florian Cnudde, the no.12 seed (11-6, 11-5, 11-9), Mizuki Oikawa, the no.2 seed, ended the hopes of Chinese Taipei’s Lai Chi-Chen (11-9, 11-6, 11-5).

Overall seven Japanese players through to the Under 21 Men’s Singles quarter-finals; the one exception was Masaki Takami; he experienced a second round defeat at the hands of DPR Korea’s Ham Yu Song (7-11, 13-11, 11-8, 11-8).

Seeking semi-final places, in the round of the last eight, Yuto Kizukuri meets Ham Yu Song, Yuta Tanaka plays Kakaru Sone. In the opposite half of the draw, it is Shunsuke Togami versus Kohei Sambe, Yukiya Uda in opposition to Mizuki Oikawa.

The Under 21 Men’s Singles events will be played to a conclusion on Wednesday 18th July.
