The Oman Table Tennis Federation presented ITTF High Performance and Development the strongest bid out of a selection of excellent proposals.
Notably, the Oman Table Tennis Federation has participated in the ITTF High Performance and Development global talent identification Hopes Programme for the past three years. Seven training centres for players under 12 years of age throughout the Sultanate of Oman have been established, all fully equipped with the necessary training facilities and tools.
Great credit for the far-seeing initiative goes to Abdullah Ba Makhalef, the President of the Oman Table Tennis Federation.
“One of Oman Table Tennis Federation’s priorities is to promote table tennis in the Sultanate of Oman in order to enthuse a new generation to participate in sport and play table tennis, so that we engage our children as much as possible in an active lifestyle. Our efforts within our training centres are very much in line with ITTF High Performance and Development’s Hopes Programme. We believe that hosting this valuable event will be useful and helpful to us in reaching our goals”. Abdullah Ba Makhalef
Two years ago, the first National Hopes Week in Oman was held in 2016, followed in 2017 by the West Asia Hopes Week; this year, Oman held a National Hopes Week in conjunction with the International Table Tennis Federation.
Next year’s ITTF World Hopes Week and Challenge will be the pinnacle of Oman’s efforts within the Hopes Programme.
