In the Junior Girls’ Team event Fang Sih-Han and Tsai Yu-Chin proved imperious, as did Chen Tsai-Ni and Liu Ru-Yan in the counterpart Cadet Girls’ Team competition.
The top seeds, at the final hurdle Fang Sih-Han and Tsai Yu-Chin accounted for Puerto Rico’s Fabiola Diaz and Mileysha Sanchez, having in the penultimate round defeated the Chile ‘B’ Team partnership of Macarena Montecino and Javiera Saavedra in a similarly imposing manner. In the counterpart semi-final, Fabiola Diaz and Mileysha Sanchez had recorded a likewise emphatic victory when securing a three-nil success in opposition to the Chile ‘B’ Team pairing of Clauia Infante and Natalie Ramos.
Meanwhile, in the final of the Cadet Girls’ Team event, it was the United States duo comprising Aya Fu and Lavanya Maruthapandian that was put the sword; the no.7 seeds, having earlier in the day ended the hopes of Puerto Rico.
At the quarter-final stage they beat the no.4 seeds, the Puerto Rico ‘B’ Team combination of Sonelia Gonzalez and Brianna Burgos by three matches to nil; prior to reserving their place in the final courtesy of a three-one success against the top seeded Puerto Rico ‘A’ Team duo of Kassandra Maldonado and Zulnamy Soto.
In the opposite half of the draw, Chen Tsai-Ni and Liu Ru-Yan, who started matters at the no.6 seeds, also caused Puerto Rico heartaches. After accounting for the no.5 seeds, the Argentine combination of Elea Hernandez and Manuela Pereyra, they ended the hopes of the no.12 seeds, the Puerto Rico ‘C’ Team partnership of Edmarie Leon and Kristal Melendez.
The Junior Girls’ Team and Cadet Girls’ Team events concluded; attention now turns to the individual competitions. Play concludes in San Salvador on Sunday 12th August.
