Adrien Rassenfosse, the top seed, reserved his place in the last eight by overcoming Singapore’s Andy Wong Yan Kai, the no.6 seed (11-4, 11-9, 6-11, 5-11, 11-7) who, the previous day, had finished in second place in his group.
A hard fought win to secure progress, it was the same from Navid Shams, the no.3 seed. He accounted for Chinese Taipei’s Li Yan-Jun (7-11, 5-11, 11-8, 11-6, 11-5); similarly, Radin Khayyan, the no.5 seed, ended the hopes of Kuo Chia-Hung, like Li Yan-Jun from Chinese Taipei (11-6, 11-4, 8-11, 11-6).
Good form, it was same in the Cadet Boys’ Doubles event. Radin Khayyan and Navid Shams reserved their place in the semi-finals by overcoming Korea Republic’s Jung Seongwo and Kim Junhyeok (11-7, 14-16, 11-7, 11-6) and now meet Chinese Taipei’s Chuang Chia-Chuan and Kao Cheng-Jui.
Similarly, Nicolas Degros and Adrien Rassenfosse emerged successful in their quarter-final duel in five games; they accounted for the combination of Thailand’s Chetthanabodi Chanpen and Canada’s Glacier Sung (11-7, 10-12, 11-8, 12-10). They now face Huang Yan-Cheng and Li Hsin-Yu in an event where Chinese Taipei is prominent; in the remaining quarter-final duels they provide three of the four pairs. Wang Guan-Ru and Zou Shang-Cheng meet Hong Kong’s Choy Chun Kit and Yu Nok, Ku Chung-Wen and Kuo Chan-Yin oppose Tsai Kai-Cheng and Tsai Li-Yang.
Likewise, in the second round of the Cadet Boys’ Singles event, the round that determines the quarter-finalists, there was both success and disappointment for the hosts.
Wang Guan-Ru beat Korea Republic’s Seo Hyeonwoo (11-7, 13-11, 11-6), Tsai Kai-Cheng accounted for Hong Kong’s Yiu Kwan To (7-11, 15-13, 9-11, 11-9, 11-5). Conversely there was defeat, Japan proving the nemesis. Lin Hsin-Yu, the no.2 seed, suffered a surprise defeat at the hands of Sora Matsushima (11-3, 1-11, 11-8, 4-11, 11-7), Huang Yan-Cheng lost to Fumiya Oshima (7-11, 7-11, 11-7, 11-7, 11-9).
Meanwhile, in the one remaining second round Cadet Boys’ Singles contest, it was success for Korea Republic; Jung Seongwon beat Hong Kong’s Choy Chun Kit, the no.7 seed (11-9, 8-11, 11-9, 9-11, 11-6).
