Likewise in the same event Mexico represented by Jorge Buenrostro and Rogelio Castro, the no.2 seeds, followed suit, as did Ecuador’s Jeremy Cedeno and Diego Piguave.
However, for Panama’s David Herrera and Felipe Velarde, the no.4 seeds, there was defeat. They suffered a three-one reverse against Peru’s Nicolas Luna and Eduardo Mendoza, before recovering to record a three-two success in opposition to the Dominican Republic’s Christopher Rodriguez and Oswaldy Reyes.
A successful start for the top seeds in the Under 13 Boys’ Team event; in the counterpart Under 13 Girls’ Team competition, life was very different. Colombia’s Juliana Lozada and Ana Isaza suffered a three-two defeat in their opening contest against Peru’s Isabel Solar and Valentina Zea.
Troubled times for Colombia, for the next in the order of merit, there were no such problems. Puerto Rico’s Alanis Reyes and Edmarie de Leon, the no.2 seeds, ended the day unbeaten as did colleagues Daymar Castro and Kristal Melendez, the no.3 seeds. Likewise, for Guatemala’s Jenny Cux and Monica Mejia, the no.4 seeds, it was a day without troubles.
Meanwhile, in the Under 11 Boys’ Team there was defeat for the top seeds. Represented by Felipe Alvarado and Gabriel Flores, Chile experienced a three-one reverse at the hands Costa Rica’s Alenadro Montoya and Emanuel Rivera. Similarly, Guatemala’s Enrique Ton and Fernando Ton, the no.3 seeds, suffered by three matches to two at the hands of Chile’s Martin Peña and Francisco Villegas. Problems for Chile and Guatemala; it was the same for Puerto Rico’s Yadier Lopez and Enrique Rios, the no.4 seeds. They were beaten by Cuba’s Fabio Estevez and Edel Rodriguez; the margin three matches to two.
Notably amongst the leading outfits on duty in the Under 11 Boys’ Team event only the Dominican Republic’s Rafael Cabrera and Ramon Vila emerged unscathed.
Likewise in the Under 11 Girls’ Team competition, the Dominican Republic’s Arianna Estrella and Shary Muñoz lost by three-two against Peru’s Flavia Garcia and Karia Medoza; a fate that also befell Costa Rica’s Sofia Perez and Lucia Zavaleta. They experienced a three-nil defeat when facing Ecuador’s Maybelline Menendez and Fiorella Olaya.
Defeats for the top two seeds in the Under 11 Girls’ Team event, for the next in line there were no such problems. Brazil’s Beatriz Fiore and Karina Shiray ended the day unbeaten as did Ecuador’s Angelica Arellano and Maria Borja.
The team events continue on Friday 26th October.
