Furthermore, a most impressive entry has been received; the team events commencing proceedings.
Notably in the Under 11 Boys’ Team event there are 21 teams, seven groups in the initial stage of proceedings; in the Under 11 Girls’ Team competition it is six in number with three groups being the order of the day in the first phase.
Meanwhile, in the Under 13 Boys’ Team competition, overall 24 outfits are on duty with eight groups commencing matters; in the Under Girls’ Team event the numbers are slightly lower, 18 teams comprising six groups.
Very much in line with the ITTF World Junior Circuit, in all four events, teams finishing in first and second positions in each group advance to the main draw; there is intense competition for places in the knock-out rounds.
Later in the itinerary, attention will turn to individual events. Similarly, the numbers are most encouraging. A total of 44 players will compete in the Under 11 Boys’ Singles event, for the Under 11 Girls’ Singles competition it is 42 in number; for the Under 13 Boys’ Singles 49 players have enrolled, for the Under 13 Girls’ Singles 38 players is the total.
Overall for the six days of competition, a total of 14 the Latin American national associations are represented. In addition to the hosts, players have travelled from Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Ecuador, Guatemala, Mexico, Panama, Puerto Rico, Peru, St. Lucia, Venezuela.
Most certainly an intriguing tournament awaits, in Santo Domingo the atmosphere will be electric.
