In the most closely contested final of the day, Mariagracia La Torre and Ana Paula Yenobi secured the Under 13 Girls’ Doubles first prize; at the final hurdle they beat Puerto Rico’s Daymar Castro and Kristal Melendez by the narrowest of margins in a full five games contest (13-11, 7-11, 11-9, 10-12, 11-9).

Similarly, it was gold for Peru in the Under 11 Mixed Doubles event and silver in the Under 11 Boys’ Doubles competition. In the former, Gonzalo Vera and Valentin Lazon emerged the winners, overcoming the Dominican Republic’s Rafael Cabrera and Shary Muñoz in the final (11-8, 11-6, 11-9). In the latter, José Antonio Perales and Gonzalo Vera experienced defeat in the gold medal contest when facing the host nation’s Rafael Cabrera and Ramon Vila (11-2, 15-17, 11-9, 11-7).

Titles for Peru and the Dominican Republic; in the Under 13 Boys’ Doubles competition it was first prize for Brazil. Leonardo Ilzuka and Jorge Buenostro reserved the top step of the podium; in the decisive engagement contest they accounted for Mexico’s Rogelio Castro and Jorge Nuenostro (8-11, 18-16, 11-8, 14-12).

Meanwhile, there was success for Puerto Rico thanks to the efforts of Derek Valentin and Kristal Melendez, as there was for Ecuador in the guise of Angelica Arellano and Maria Borja.

Derek Valentin and Kristal Melendez won the Under 13 Mixed Doubles title beating Chile’s Josthyn and Fernanda Araneda (11-9, 13-11, 11-8) to seal the top prize; Angelica Arellano and Maria Borja clinched Under 11 Girls’ Doubles gold In the final they beat colleagues Fiorella Olaya and Maybelline Menendez (11-6, 7-11, 11-5, 2-11, 11-5).
