Success for Indonesia, in Class 4 it was both gold and silver; imposingly, at the final hurdle Adyos Astan accounted for colleague Yayang Gunaya (11-5, 11-5, 11-4) to secure his first such title.
A landmark win for Adyos Astan in a Factor 40 tournament for World ranking purposes; for Agus Sutanto, he very much added to his collection. Notably in Incheon at the 2014 Asian Para Games he had struck gold. In Almeria, at the final hurdle he beat Sweden’s David Olsson (11-8, 11-7, 11-6); the semi-final winner in opposition to Great Britain’s somewhat disappointed Daniel Bullen (11-9, 11-7, 11-9).
“I’m pleased to win a medal at my first Factor 40 tournament but I’m disappointed with my loss in the semi-final as I have beaten David before. He has obviously worked hard and studied my game, as he changed his tactics and game plan and he did play well. This has made me even more determined to work hard to improve my game and look at my opponents’ weaknesses so when I play them again I will be much stronger.” Daniel Bullen
Titles for Indonesia; for Ukraine success came in Class 1-2 thanks to the efforts of Oleksandr Yezyk and in Class 3, where Vasyl Petruniv prevailed. At the final hurdle both ended French title hopes; Oleksandr Yezyk beat Benoît Besset (11-9, 11-4, 11-6), Vasyl Petruniv accounted for Sylvain Noël but experienced problems, he had to recover from a two games to nil deficit (5-11, 9-11, 11-9, 11-6, 11-6).
Matters in the individual events concluded, attention now turns to the team competitions; play concludes in Almeria on Sunday 18th November.
