In each of the Men’s and Women’s qualification tournaments, a total of 18 teams competed in Group A, being the leading outfits from the Liebherr 2017 European Championships, the remaining teams competed in Group B.
Within Group A, teams were drawn into six groups, three teams in each group. Teams finishing in first and second positions in each group reserved their places in the Liebherr 2019 European Team Championships. Teams finishing in third positions now compete in a competition which involves the outfits finishing in first and second positions in each group in Group B, in order to determine the remaining 10 places. The Group B event involved six Men’s groups and six Women’s groups.
The names of those teams who have reserved the remaining places will be known on Thursday 2nd May.
Thus overall a total of 24 teams will compete in each of the Men’s and Women’s events at the Liebherr 2018 European Champions.
In the Men’s event, the qualifiers from Group A having finished in either first or second positions are: Austria, Portugal, Slovenia, Belgium, Sweden, Spain, Poland, Croatia, Belarus, Slovakia, Greece and Russia. Direct entries are France and Germany.
Meanwhile, in the Women’s competition, the teams that have reserved their places are Germany, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Croatia, Sweden, Belarus, Hungary, Czech Republic, Portugal, Austria, Ukraine and Poland. Direct entries are France and Romania.
