Prior to the start of the course Angola had only one ITTF/PTT Level One Coach, Miguel Manuel, he was certified in 2013; since that date no other such coaches have emerged. Hence the goals were very clear; most importantly all responded.
Under the direction of Venezuela’s Luisana Perez, a most comprehensive itinerary was delivered; the general principles of practice, technical skills, physical preparation and tournament organization being highlighted.
“I loved the motivation of the whole group to learn. It took a lot, it was very hot but everyone gave 100 per cent attention. It was a great course, different. There is still a lot to do in Angola but the coaches are willing to continue learning.” Luisana Perez
Each day sessions were staged from 9.00 a.m. to 12.00 noon and from 3.00 pm to 6.00 pm; the schedule comprising both theory and practical classes; locally matters being organized by Dra Antonia Simao Bernardo Ribeiro, the President of the Angola Table Tennis Federation and by Manuel Pimienta, the National Technical Director.
“It was a very intelligent course because it exceeded our expectations. We saw topics in a practical and simple way that facilitated our understanding. The response was positive and it surprised of all of us because we learned new exercises. We want to thank the ITTF and we hope to have the collaboration for future courses in our country.” Manuel Pimienta
A positive response from Manuel Pimienta, it was the same from Dra Antonia Simao Bernardo Ribeiro.
“We are very satisfied with the course. Now Angola has ITTF/PTT Level One Coaches capable of assisting not only conventional players but also those with a disability. We hope that people with disabilities will practise table tennis. In addition, the fact that Luisana Perez has knowledge of the Portuguese language, allowed us to facilitate the understanding of the classes. We hope to continue growing as a federation, as a sport and as a country.” Dra Antonia Simao Bernardo Ribeiro.
Exceeding expectations was the message; a most successful course was concluded.
