The third largest city in Saxony, Chemnitz is located approximately 85 km south-east of Leipzig and is not far from both the Czech and Polish borders.
Following the announcement that Chemnitz will host the tournament for a third time the president of the Saxon Tischtennis-Verband and chief organiser Thomas Neubert is urging fans of the sport to keep their schedules free for the two-day event, promising an unmissable experience for all to enjoy.
“I am very pleased that the Deutscher Tischtennis-Bund awarded the German Championships to Chemnitz for the third time in 2020. Of course, we will do our utmost to make these German Championships an unforgettable event for the players, spectators and all those involved. I can already reveal so much that it will be a “special German Championships”, where we impressively present our beautiful sport of table tennis. All table tennis fans should already make a note of the dates 29th February and 1st March in their calendars – see you in Chemnitz!” Thomas Neubert
President of the Deutscher Tischtennis-Bund [DTTB] Michael Geiger is also delighted with the news and is holding out high hopes for yet another successful show next year in Chemnitz, especially with the arrival of the new competition format which sees a reduction in the number of entries from 48 to 32 in both singles categories and a maximum of 16 pairs in the doubles.

However, before then there’s still the matter of the 2019 German National Championships to be contested as the country’s finest players travel to the Rittal Arena in Wetzlar from Friday 1st to Sunday 3rd March.
