The selection is in accordance with the playing format whereby following the initial group qualification phase of proceedings, the first round proper in both the men’s singles and women’s singles events possesses 128 places; of those places 64 are seeds, 64 qualifiers.
Meanwhile, the first round proper of men’s doubles, women’s doubles and mixed doubles competitions there are 64 places, overall 32 seeded, 32 by qualification. The qualification procedure will be based on the knock-out formula.
Overall, 36 international umpires have been selected, 24 men and 12 women, of that number, 28 umpires will be on duty only for the first five days of the tournament from Sunday 21st to Thursday 25th April; on the concluding three days from Friday 26th to Sunday 28th April, the remaining eight umpires, four men and four women, will continue to officiate.
