Additionally, the duo is also the top seeded pair in the junior girls’ doubles event, whilst in the junior girls’ singles competition, Nandeshwaree Jalim is the no.3 seed behind her partner and the Ivory Coast’s Rebecca Houngue.
A first appearance of the year for Diya Parag Chitale on the 2019 ITTF World Junior Circuit but without doubt, of those on duty in Accra, she has the greatest pedigree; most notably in 2016 when only 12 years old, she won the cadet girls’ singles title in Qatar and then later in the year she succeeded in Tunisia.
In comparison, the most significant successes for Rebecca Houngue and Nandeshwaree Jalim came at the 2018 African Youth Games in Algiers; in the women’s singles event, Rebecca Houngue finished in sixth place, Nandeshwaree Jalim two places higher in fourth spot.
Meanwhile, in the cadet girls’ singles event, the name at the pinnacle of the list is that of England’s Ruby Chan, she is listed ahead of Congo Democratic’s Julie Kayembe and Lily Dinanga. Equally, partnering India’s Ananya Chande, the duo reserves the top place in both the cadet girls’ team and cadet girls’ doubles events. In both competitions, Julie Kayembe and Lily Dinanga occupy the second seeded position.
Play concludes in Accra on Friday 5th March, being followed by the African Youth, Junior and Cadet Championships which commence on Sunday 7th March.
