Timo Boll withdraws from World Championships

German Legend Timo Boll withdraws from both Men's Singles and Men's Doubles events at the Liebherr 2019 ITTF World Table Tennis Championships due to a fever.

Germany’s Timo Boll, the no. 5 seed withdrew from the Men’s Singles event on the morning of Thursday 25th April

It had been hoped he would be well enough to partner Patrick Franziska in the Men’s Doubles.

Unfortunately that was not to prove possible; the outcome was that in the Men’s Singles event, Korea Republic’s Jang Woojin received a walk-over and thus booked his place in the quarter-finals. In the Men’s Doubles, Portugal’s Tiago Apolonia advanced directly to the semi-finals.
