ITTF Executive Committee member Seung Min Ryu has been appointed to the IOC’s Olympic Programme Commission.
“It is my great honour to be joining this inspirational commission and I will do my best to strengthen the athletes’ voice in the important work of the Olympic Programme Commission,” said Ryu.
The Olympic programme is the fundamental core of the Olympic Games as decisions regarding the programme have an impact on virtually all other areas of the Olympic Games and Olympic Movement
The responsibilities of the 23-member commission are to develop a programme that maximises the popularity of the Olympic Games while containing costs and complexity; to ensure the Olympic programme remains relevant to young people by ensuring innovation and adapting to modern taste and new trends, while respecting the history and tradition of the sports; and to evaluate the sports and events in close cooperation with the respective International Federations; and to form proposals for consideration by the IOC Executive Board.
A gold medallist at the Olympic Games Athens 2004, Seung Min Ryu is also the Vice-Chair of the IOC Athletes’ Commission and a member of the Coordination Commission of the Games of the XXXIV Olympiad Los Angeles 2028.
