During the WTT Champions Frankfurt 2023, as the table tennis family converges in Germany, the ITTF Group took a special moment to extend gratitude and congratulations to Liebherr.
The German manufacturer initiated its partnership with the ITTF exactly 20 years ago as the title sponsor of the flagship 2003 ITTF World Table Tennis Championships in Paris, marking the beginning of a longstanding collaboration.
Over the two decades, Liebherr has consistently been a significant supporter of table tennis, sponsoring numerous world-level events, including World Championships, World Cups, and World Tour Opens in Germany and Austria, and this week, its first WTT event.
ITTF President Petra Sörling and ITTF Group CEO Steve Dainton expressed their appreciation on this very special occasion, presenting Liebherr with a special award.
Speaking about the partnership in Frankfurt, Petra Sörling remarked, “The ITTF is exceptionally proud of the partnership with Liebherr which has become an integral part of the table tennis family and have supported us throughout our journey. Reuniting at another major table tennis event in Germany is indeed special, and we eagerly anticipate many more years of collaboration together.”
ITTF Group CEO Steve Dainton added, “It is a rare occurrence in both business and sports to maintain such a lengthy and meaningful relationship. This reflects the shared values of ITTF and Liebherr. Our sincere thanks to the entire Liebherr company and family for their support, and we look forward to the exciting future of table tennis together.”
Kristian Küppers, Liebherr Head of Communication and Brand Management, stated, “Liebherr takes pride in its history with table tennis and the two-decade-long relationship with the ITTF World Championships. Our gratitude to President Sörling and Steve Dainton for their ongoing collaboration and for providing the opportunity to meet this week at WTT Champions Frankfurt, an event we are also proud to sponsor. We look forward to the remaining days here and extend our best wishes to all the players participating in the event.”
Liebherr, a family-run technology company, stands as one of the largest construction equipment manufacturers globally. It also provides high-quality, user-oriented products and services in a wide range of other areas. Liebherr was founded in 1949 in Kirchdorf an der Iller in Southern Germany.
