The International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) extends its heartfelt congratulations to Mr. Ingmar De Vos on his election as President of the Association of Summer Olympic International Federations (ASOIF) during the 48th ASOIF General Assembly convened on 9 April 2024, in Birmingham, United Kingdom.
Ms. Petra Sörling, President of ITTF and member of the ASOIF Council, expresses her congratulations on behalf of the Federation, stating, “I extend my sincere congratulations and best wishes to Mr. Ingmar De Vos on his election. It will be an honour to engage in collaborative efforts with him towards a better representation of Summer Olympic International Federations in the common interests of strengthening the Olympic Movement.”
Mr. Ingmar De Vos has notably served as President of the International Equestrian Federation (FEI) since 2014, alongside his tenure as a member of the ASOIF Council since 2019. An IOC Member since 2017, he is part of the IOC Coordination Commission for LA28, the Legal Affairs Commission, and the Gender Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Commission. He is also a SportAccord Executive Committee member, ASOIF representative on the WADA Executive Committee, member of the Board of Directors of the Belgium Olympic Committee, and a UN International Gender Champion.
The third term of incumbent President Francesco Ricci Bitti will come to an end on 31 December 2024.
President Sörling also conveys sincere gratitude, stating, “Over the span of 12 years, Mr. Francesco Ricci Bitti has been a staunch advocate for ASOIF’s member federations within the Olympic Movement. I have consistently valued our insightful and productive dialogues, and Mr. Ricci Bitti’s contributions have undeniably been invaluable. We extend our profound appreciation for the remarkable accomplishments realised under his leadership.”
Francesco Ricci Bitti has been a senior executive and board member of several leading multi-national information and communication technology companies. On the sports administration side, he served as member of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) between 2006 and 2012. President of the International Tennis Federation (ITF) between 1999 and 2015, he remains ITF Honorary Life President. Currently, Francesco Ricci Bitti is Member of IOC’s Coordination Commissions for Paris 2024 and Los Angeles 2028, Future Host Commission for the Games of the Olympiad, Marketing Commission and Olympic Channel Commission. He is also a Board Member of the International Testing Agency (ITA).
