Moments later on the adjacent table, it was Alberto Mino’s turn to close out a comeback. The Ecuadorian posted four straight games against Finn Luu, securing his round of 32 berth 4-3 (9-11 ,9-11, 9-11. 11-9, 11-7, 11-4, 11-8).

Kanak Jha Claims First Men’s Singles Win, Moldovan Makes History
Kanak Jha of the USA secured the first men’s singles win for his country at Paris 2024, defeating Vladislav Ursu of Moldova 4-0.
Ursu also made history as the first Moldovan table tennis player to compete at the Olympics. The crowd applauded his achievement as he left the table. Kanak Jha, who is no stranger to the Olympic stage, demonstrated his experience and skill, delighting the large American contingent in the arena.
Katarzyna Wegrzyn secures first win of Paris 2024!
Katarzyna Wegrzyn of Poland wasted no time etching her name in the Paris 2024 record books, securing the first victory of the table tennis competition. Her opponent, Fathimath Ali of the Maldives, was making history as the first table tennis player from her nation to compete in the Olympic Games.
Despite the final score of 4-0 favouring the Polish Wegrzyn, Ali’s performance was far from unnoticed. The young Maldivian displayed impressive resilience and determination throughout the match. The crowd erupted in enthusiastic applause as she left the court, a testament to the significance of her participation for both Ali and her nation.
