Truls Moregard has continued his impressive run at the Paris Olympics, defeating Omar Assar 4-1 (11-7, 6-11, 14-12, 14-12, 11-2) to secure his place in the semifinals. He becomes the fourth Swedish player to reach the semifinals of Men’s singles at the Olympics. The Swedish sensation has captured the hearts of fans here in South Paris Arena with his thrilling performances and will be looking for more of their support tomorrow as he takes on Hugo Calderano in a highly anticipated semifinal clash. Both players have shown exceptional form throughout the tournament, making history for their nations, and are eager to secure a place in the gold medal match.


Hayata Ends Fairytale Run, Sets Up Exciting Semifinal Clash

Japan’s Hina Hayata has ended the remarkable run of PRK’s Pyon Song Gyong, securing her place in the semi-finals with a thrilling 4-3 victory. “We both played very good table tennis today. My opponent was very well-prepared. On my part, I wasn’t taking enough initiative from the start. When I fell behind, I didn’t panic. I adjusted my rhythm and slowly found my momentum in the match again.” – Fan Zhendong

Felix Lebrun has sent the Paris crowd into raptures after securing his place in the men’s singles semifinals. The French star overcame a stern test from Chinese Taipei’s Lin Yun-Ju, triumphing 11-7, 7-11, 11-8, 4-11, 11-8, 8-11, 11-6 in a thrilling seven-game encounter. Felix Lebrun’s journey to the final four has captured the hearts of the nation, and the home crowd will be in full voice as he chases a medal on home soil.

On reaching the semifinals:

“It’s been one of my objectives. I was going into this tournament as the third seed. I said I wanted to hold my own, but it’s not easy. Being there is different. We’ve got some great champions in France, but it’s been a while since we’ve had good results at the Olympic Games (in table tennis). I’m not there yet, but I’m still very proud of reaching the semifinal.”

The South American star produced a dominant performance, defeating Jang Woojin 4-0 (11-4, 11-7, 11-5, 11-6) to secure his place in the final four. Calderano’s impressive run continues, as he aims to challenge for the gold medal.

“It’s an even bigger feat that I’m the first outside of Asia or Europe. I had some emotions after the match. It’s really nice to represent a whole continent. At the same time I want so much more. I want to keep going, reach the final and maybe even a gold medal.” – Hugo Calderano


Hugo Calderano and Jang Woojin Reunite in Quarterfinal Clash

A rematch of their Tokyo 2020 Round of 16 encounter is on the cards as Hugo Calderano and Jang Woojin are up next as they face off in the quarterfinals. The Brazilian secured a 4-3 victory over the Korean in their previous Olympic meeting, but Jang Woojin will be eager to avenge that defeat. This promises to be a thrilling encounter!


Chen Meng Cruises into Semifinals
