Para table tennis has been a pivotal part of the Paralympic Games since its inception at the Rome 1960 Paralympics. As one of the eight founding sports—alongside Para athletics, Para swimming, Para archery, artchery, snooker, wheelchair fencing, and wheelchair basketball—Para table tennis boasts a rich history that even predates its inclusion in the Olympic Games by nearly thirty years.

At the inaugural Rome 1960 Paralympics, around 130 athletes competed across 11 medal events, marking the beginning of the sport’s remarkable journey. Fast forward to Paris 2024, and the sport has seen exponential growth, with an impressive 280 athletes set to compete in 31 medal events, highlighting the sport’s rising popularity and evolution.
